+++ New study focus +++ from October 2025

The new professorship for Sculpture and Environment at the University of Arts Linz will focus on artistic practices that are decidedly concerned with the complex interdependencies between humans and their biological and social environments. The term environment refers both to the urgent problem area of (global) ecology with its multiple crises and to the environment as an art form.

This art form draws on installation, social sculpture and participatory art techniques to make people aware of multi-layered environmental references and turn them into the subject of criticism or the basis for alternative designs.

The interweaving with the other areas of art and cultural studies at the Institute makes for an exciting interpenetration of media and promotes an understanding of painting and printmaking in great diversity.
