Industrial Design focuses on the design and development of serial, innovative products with a focus on people, technology, social developments and strategic positioning. As creative, innovative specialists on the one hand and as interdisciplinary generalists on the other, industrial designers are in demand today and in the future and are decisive for the emotional, economic and social value of products. Graduates start careers in industrial companies, start-ups, design offices and in self-employment.
Accordingly, the bachelor's programme Industrial Design at the University of Arts Linz imparts strategic, technological and marketing knowledge and promotes design-scientific skills and innovative strength as a basis for the later profession as a designer. The focus is on digitalisation, networking and technology integration.
The Master' s programme is geared towards the requirements of permanent technological change and offers scope for setting priorities in terms of content and personal specialisation in the areas of ergonomics, technology, CAID, robotics and innovation management. Participation in research projects enables scientific deepening. Cooperation with industry and other universities ensures interdisciplinarity and practical relevance.
